Join us at the emerging Permaculture and agroforestry site of Cricket's Cove Farm. An ideal learning site which includes several existing enterprises and water harvesting agroforestry systems at various stages of growth.

You will learn how to use design to transform your environment into a sustainable and regenerative system. You will learn to design from pattern to detail applying strategy to select appropriate techniques and technologies. Empowered by these tools you can create a world of abundance for yourself and those around you.

Using a variety of learning techniques and strategies this workshop presents Permaculture with a diversity of applications in mind. Class time consists of traditional lectures, guest presentations, group discussions, games, exercises, photo shows, movies, and practical design work.

We will focus on land based systems with as much practical hands-on work as possible. Our hands-on projects may include: grey water installation, sheet mulching, harvesting microorganisms, planting, irrigation, composting, gardening work and more.

Applications and Opportunities in ‘Invisible Structures’--the social, cultural, political, and economic structures that shape much of our world today--will be explored through discussion, examples, and activities. Permaculture design is embedded in the course by the structure and environment we create as a dynamic group.

This workshop involves group work where students complete a real life design project. Through completion of the 72 hour PDC participants gain conceptual and practical knowledge of Permaculture and receive a certificate to practice Permaculture Design.

We offer 2 camping locations, both with hot showers. Limited indoor accommodations may be available for an extra fee.

Healthy Food:

A healthy organic breakfast, lunch and dinner are included the cost of the course. Vegan, vegetarian and carnivore options will be available.

Andrew Millison

Andrew Millison is a founder of Permaculture Design International. He has been designing, building and teaching about Permaculture since he took his first course in 1996. He began his Permaculture career in the deserts of Arizona, where he attended Prescott College and the Ecosa Institute for Ecological Design. He went on to teach at both of those schools, received a Master's degree studying heirloom fruit trees, ran the small desert farm at Paolo Soleri's Arcosanti, worked in a Landscape Architecture office, and ran his own design / build Permaculture business.

In 2008 Andrew moved to Corvallis, Oregon where he began teaching Permaculture design at Oregon State University in the Horticulture Department. His design business flourished in Oregon, where he completed numerous site designs for a wide variety of clients that can be seen on the Projects page. His specialties include the design of whole-site water systems, as well as community gathering and social spaces.
